What is written in the certificate?
Our COVID-19 verification certificates are verifiable, digital PDF letters, sent straight to your email inbox and contain the following:
- Your details including your name and date of birth
- Confirmation of the date and time your test was taken and the type of test you took
- Official confirmation of your test result: Positive, Negative or Unclear
- The GMC number of the signing clinician, giving both you and any relevant authorities peace of mind that your case has been assessed by a competent professional.
- A unique QR code verifying the authenticity of your letter and our contact details at Merlin Health.
How do I get a COVID-19 lateral flow test?
You can purchase a COVID-19 lateral flow test from your local pharmacy. A test kit is not provided as part of this service.
What do I need to submit?
To issue you or your child with a COVID-19 verification certificate, you will need to submit the following information:
- Basic details about yourself including a form of photographic identification (e.g. passport)
- A short video of you taking the test
- A photograph of the test cassette, 15 minutes after you took it

What happens after I apply for my COVID-19 test verification certificate?
Once you have completed the medical questionnaire, the information will be reviewed by one of our doctors who will proceed to issue you a medical certificate if deemed appropriate, on the same day. You will receive both email and text message confirmation throughout the process.
Do you provide a COVID-19 test kit?
No - we do not provide a COVID-19 test kit. This can be purchased from your local pharmacy.
Do I need a COVID-19 test verification certificate?
Confirmation of your COVID-19 status is often required by employers, educational institutes, travel and immigration authorities and more.
How long will it take to receive my certificate?
All requests submitted before 10pm (British Standard Time) have their certificates issued and sent through email the same day.
What information do I need to submit?
You will be prompted to fill in a simple online questionnaire with basic details about yourself, a video of you taking the test and a photograph of the test result 15 minutes after you have taken it.
Who signs the certificate?
All our medical certificates are signed by one of our GMC-registered doctors, all of whom are UK-based.
